Make Winter Your Healthiest Season Yet
The cold weather is officially upon us, and we’ve even seen snow. Whether you’ve fallen victim to a winter cold already or you’re still managing to keep illness at bay this season, incorporate these steps into your daily routine to stay healthy and happy this winter.
Improve Your Health This Winter
Who says you have to get sick in the winter? It’s not true! You can take steps to help prevent illness this winter.
As in the summer, drink plenty of water each day. Just because it’s not hot outside doesn’t mean you can’t get dehydrated in the winter. In fact, your body is less likely to clue you in that it’s thirsty, so stay hydrated by consuming water on a regular basis.
Also, try to keep your stress levels as low as possible. Work on alleviating your stress by eating a healthy diet, exercising at least 30 minutes on most days of the week and finding time in your schedule to relax. Stress can cause your immunity to decline, making you more likely to get sick.
Don’t forget to wash your hands on a regular basis, too. Because of cold temperatures, more people stay indoors—meaning you’re more likely to be exposed to a greater number of germs. Wash off those germs with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if there’s no water nearby.
